Abstract
Research on the question of religion rarely touches upon topics connected with nonbelief or atheism. Due to a growing discontent with the sacred and with the historical conduct of religions, cases of individuals who explicitly reject the supernatural are more common and well-known. This paper explores the historical process of integration of such individuals in certain Spanish-speaking regions, the erasure of geographical barriers thanks to the popularization of the Internet, the creation of atheist communities and their transcendence of the virtual setting, and the process known as atheist activism.
