Abstract
This article documents how in recent years in Pajapan, Veracruz, musical groups made up of rural musicians have been involved in efforts to maintain, strengthen, and revitalize the Náhuat language (dialect variant) and culture of the region. It discusses Pajapan’s current context and sheds light on tensions existing in this indigenous territory.
